Getting teenagers to pay attention to anything we say as parents or teachers, or as adults in general is tricky, to say the least.

Have you noticed how when we talk, their eyes glaze over and sometimes their eyeballs roll all over the place?

Frustrating as it may be, eating disorders, both eating too much and eating too little are something that we can't ignore…eye rolling or not.

Show don't tell the way to a healthy lifestyle

"Telling" teenagers anything can prove challenging. Remember what it was like? I'm pretty sure that as a teenager, I knew way more than my parents, until I was about 25 and then they didn't seem so dumb.

Mark Twain put it best…"when I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.",

So, the best way is to live, eat and play in the way you want your teenagers to.

Why you may not be able to control what they do away from home, at home you can practice a healthy lifestyle and show them how to have a healthy diet for teens…occasionally you may be able to tell them something, then again, maybe you should wait till they're over 25 and you all of a sudden become wise and knowledgeable!
