Use this list of all fruits to get you started...they are the weight losers best friend.

Why bother with a list of all fruits? Because fruit and vegetables are the best friends of losing weight and keeping it off.

They are high in nutrients, full of water and fibre. And those that have some fat...they're good fats, and compared to processed or high fat foods...they're lower in calories!

And they taste great...yes, there are so many fruits out there, you can find ones that you love, and which you will want all the time...mangoes, peaches, blueberries...are just some of mine.

Starting off...

If you start be replacing one snack a day with a couple of pieces, or a bowl of fruit, you'll already be speeding up you're weight loss and heading your body in the right direction for health and maintaining the loss.

If you can then increase this so that you are getting 3 or 4 serves of fruit a day, you'll be going great guns!

Below is a list of all fruits that are regulars in this house. This fruit alphabetical list is a great place to start looking at how much variety there is...and this list doesn't even come close to what's available!

I've had a lot of people say they just don't like fruit...what have you tried? Is always my response. When was the last time you walked around the fruit section of a market or shop, and picked up one or two of something that you haven't eaten in a while, or that you've never tasted before?

Variety and varieties...

Develop your own fruit salad recipe, based on those fruits you do like. Remember too, there is more than one type of each fruit. Apples come in so many varieties, everything from super sweet, like Pink Lady's and Royal Gala, to sour like Granny Smith.

Plums, peaches, nectarines...different types different flavours. Super sweet pineapples, and not so sweet...there's a flavour for everyone.

Here's my list of all fruits eaten regularly:

  • Apples - Pink Lady, Sundowner, Royal Gala, Golden Delicious - Apricots
  • Bananas - easiest fruit to take anywhere with a great carbyohydrate hit - Blueberries, Blackberries
  • Canteloupe, Cumquats, Cherries, Custard Apple - this year it was a first time for the kids...they loved them
  • Figs - these are packaged ones, and high in sugar, so keep these to once or twice a week
  • Grapes
  • Honeydew Melon
  • Kiwi fruit
  • Lemon, Lime, Lychees
  • Mango, Mandarin
  • Nashi, Nectarines
  • Oranges
  • Pear, Passionfruit, Pineapple, Prunes, Plum, Peaches
  • Raspberries - these are cheaper and just as nutritious if you buy them frozen - Rambutans
  • Strawberries
  • Tangelo
  • Watermelon

Use this list of all fruits that we eat as a starting point, build on it, what other fruits can you find in your area that aren't listed here? What fruit salad recipe can you come up with? What different ways can you serve them? Which of these ways do you like.

Build more fruits into your life. They're great as snacks, as the end of a meal, as dessert, as part of breakfast. Blend them into healthy fruit smoothies. They are quick to put in lunchboxes. Try those with edible skin with and without. While the skin holds a lot of nutrition...if you'll eat them without, but not with...then eat them without! It's still better than a bag of chips, or a calorie loaded prepackaged something!
